This gorgeous purple herb of the mint family is one of the most widely used of all the essential oils.  It can be applied topically to the body in a carrier oil like coconut or jojoba in order to calm insect stings/bites, motion sickness, eczema, allergies, minor cuts, burns, bruises, agitated children, sunburn, overworked muscles and many more.  The lovely aroma can help to clear a sickroom or hectic working space to restore tranquility.  In order to infuse the scent just add 5-10 drops of lavender essential oil to a diffuser and breath deeply!  Look for Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade oils when using them internally in order to ensure purity.  Adding a few drops to water, milk or even smoothies is a tasty way to ease anxiety, aid in sleep and even protect against cancer.  A few drops added to your shampoo can help to nourish and strengthen your hair as well as deter dandruff.  This essential oil can also keep acne at bay when added to your facial moisturizer.  Personally, I find this particular oil to be indispensable when it comes time for my toddler to take a nap.  I have added the oil to his bath before bedtime and even put a few drops on his bedding before laying him down for a snooze.  When applied topically during massage the list of benefits to the body are endless.  The next time you come into the spa ask for an essential oil application during your massage.  This will help to combat stress, pain, insomnia, blisters, depression, flatulence, scar tissue and even chapped lips!  I cannot emphasize enough the importance of keeping a bottle of this miracle oil around your home.  I am a big fan of doTERRA essential oils as they are of the greatest quality and potency.   Next time you’re in for a treatment, ask for the addition of lavender essential oil for an even more calming and rejuvenating experience!
